I have jumped from occupation to occupation over the last nineteen years since high school, and I have found growth and happiness every step of the way.
In 1991, I entered the US Marine Corps as a Nuclear/Biological/Chemical Defense Specialist. I was medically retired in 1991 after having part of my skull removed to stop the advance of nerve damage in my left arm and torso. Small training accident.
I then went to Northern Illinois University in the fall of 1993. I studied Secondary English Education with an endorsemet in Social Studies, graduating in the spring of 1997.
Beginning in 1997, I taught high school English and coached football in DuPage County at West Chicago High School.
After the 2000-2001 school year, I left teaching to take over running the family businesses, as my Dad was retiring and my parents were moving back to Ireland. My brother Tim, who was a co-owner with my Dad, needed a VP. I happened to have the background in every element of the business to do the job.
I left the business after five years, taking up stakes and moving my pregnant wife and two year old little boy to Central Illinois, in the Illinois River Valley, away from the congestions of the city I grew-up in and loved - Chicago. My hometown had actually been Des Plaines, a northwest burb.
After going back to school at the Soma Institute in downtown Chicago, I am now a Clinical Massage Therapist. I work exclusively on clients with medical ailments, from peripheral neuropathy to MS/Parkinsonism/etc., spinal problems to athletic injuries. I have a background in special orthopedic testing and posture/gait/range of motion testing and charting. My goal has been to reduce symptoms to the point of managability, but I've been fortunate enough to 'fix' (for lack of a better word) a great many of my clients.
I am married to Sandra, who I met at NIU, and she teaches kindergarten. We were married in 1999, and are now truly blessed with four year-old PJ (Patrick, Junior) and two year-old Timmy.
